Terms of use
1. What Closeby is
Closeby is an online platform that allows users to publish information about offline meetings, events and local activities, and to discover such information published by others. Closeby provides hosting and display of user-generated content only. Closeby is not an organiser, co-organiser, promoter or agent of any event listed on the platform, unless explicitly stated otherwise for a specific Closeby-run activity.
2. No responsibility for events
Closeby does not organise, supervise, control, endorse or guarantee any meeting, event, activity, venue or interaction between users. Any event published on the platform is organised solely by the user (or organisation) who created it. Closeby is not a party to any agreement between organisers and participants.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Closeby and its operators shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, claim, cost or expense arising out of or in connection with: (a) attendance at or cancellation of any event; (b) the conduct of organisers or participants; (c) the accuracy or legality of information published by users; (d) offline interactions of any kind.
3. User responsibility
By registering an account and/or creating an event you confirm that:
- you are solely responsible for the content you publish and for the event you create, including safety, legality, permits, age restrictions and venue rules;
- you will provide accurate information and will not publish unlawful, harmful, discriminatory or deceptive content;
- participants join events at their own risk;
- you will comply with local laws in the place where the event is held.
If you register as an organisation, you represent that you are authorised to act for that organisation.
4. Content and moderation
You retain rights to your content. You grant Closeby a non-exclusive licence to host, display and distribute that content on the platform for the purpose of operating the service. We may remove or restrict content that violates these terms or applicable law, without obligation to monitor all content in advance.
5. Accounts
You must provide accurate contact details and keep your credentials secure. We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service or violate these terms.
6. Service availability
The platform is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Features may change.
7. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such exclusion is prohibited). Subject to that, Closeby’s total liability arising from the use of the platform shall be limited to the greater of (i) the fees you paid to Closeby in the three months preceding the claim, or (ii) one hundred euros (€100).
8. Contact
Questions about these terms: use the contact email published on the site or in your account settings after launch.
